Gearing up for 2021

Lots of work coming down the pipeline for 2021!

We are out pruning for the 2021 growing season and so far everything is looking pretty good. We are hoping for another great season. 2020 was a bummer of a year for the world in general with regards to covid-19. The same can be said for winegrowers in large parts of WA, OR, and CA who hand to manage with wildfires and smoke taint. Fortunately for the Idaho industry we did not have smoke taint to deal with and our growing season turned out really well.

For Sawtooth and Skyline Vineyards we have a new Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre(GSM) block coming online with first fruit this year. We are starting a 6 year project on one of our Tempranillo blocks where this year being year 1 we will rip out and replant half the block with a superior clone. Year 3 we will rip out the other half of the block and replace with a different but also superior clone from the original. By year 6 both clones will be up in full production. We are preparing some land this year to start with a new Petit Verdot block and we will plant the other half of a sparkling Chardonnay block as well. We have a other projects even further down the road, but we can only get there one step at a time.
